Dear Community Organizations,
We are very excited to be celebrating the 42nd annual Powell Street Festival on Saturday, August 4th and Sunday, August 5th, 2018!
We would like to invite your organization to apply to be in this year’s Community Tent. Your application is due Friday, March 9th, 2018. If you submitted an application last year, please log in to your account and your content will appear in each field. However, it is important that you review and update each answer because the questions may have changed. We will make every effort to accommodate your request.
Please note that space is limited and you may be asked to share space or a table with another group. Please indicate if you will participate for 2 full days, half days, or 1 day only. Organizations must attend for the full time that they are scheduled, or they may jeopardize future participation at the Powell Street Festival. All accepted organizations are also required to give notification by Friday, July 20th, 2018 should they require to withdraw from the Festival. Powell Street Festival has many community group applicants and we will do our best to accommodate everybody including acceptance, and location and placement of organizations; however not every request can be met.
Powell Street Festival Society (PSFS) will provide each organization space within a 10′ x 10′ tent with one table (8′ x 2.5′) and two chairs. Organizations are encouraged to bring display panels to maximize their space. After the final planning, we will inform you of the amount of space available to your group. The minimum space allotted will be 5′ x 10′ with use of half a table. If you wish to secure a space larger than 10′ x 10′, please contact me at the PSFS office.
To help with the costs of presenting the Community Tent, organizations will either:
- Donate $100.00 to contribute to the rental of the tent;
- Sell lottery tickets (your organization will receive 20% commission of your total lottery ticket sales remitted to PSFS); or
- Provide a volunteer for the Festival during set-up day on Friday, August 3rd, 2018
Organizations are welcome to sell products in your allotted space, but keep in mind that all sales (including memberships and subscriptions) will be subject to a 15% commission payable to PSFS by the deadline of Friday, August 10th, 2018. Donations may not be collected for organizations other than PSFS.
Please note: If you are selling crafts in your community booth, permission will be subject to Craft Booth guidelines (i.e. no duplicate items).
